Roger Haines
Roger will be 51 at the start of the race and sees this challenge as a major milestone in his life to be achieved. He joined The Skiff Club, Teddington in 2004, sculling & racing  traditional fixed seat clinker built boats & ultimately became Club Captain.

He works as an independent Management Consultant providing business system and programme management advice to the likes of BP International & BG Group. This together with his background in Aerospace and Composite Engineering stands him in good stead to build and equip the boat as well as planning and managing the myriad of activities required to make this challenge a success.

Eager to redeem himself after injury forced retirement in the 2009 Indian Ocean Race, Roger can’t wait to complete unfinished business.

Tom Lee
Tom is a former Royal Navy and current RNR officer, having seen service all over the world, most recently in the current conflict in Iraq. In his civilian life he works for De La Rue, supplying passports and ID cards to Africa, where he spends much of his working life.

Mentally it is something that he feels confident of being able to achieve, having on several occasions spent many months in some of the harshest conditions that the world has to offer, both at sea and in the desert.

Married with two sons, Tom has been rowing skiffs for a number of years and is a keen participant in events such as the Great River Race, as well as being a great lover of outdoor pursuits in general.
